The characteristics of the Rabbit are controlled by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a five year cycle of characteristics on the initial twelve year cycle.
THE METAL RABBIT 1951 AND 2011
Metal gives Rabbits a more durable character than the other more calm Rabbit. These Rabbits are extremely determined and can be rather cunning in their transactions with others. They throw themselves and their feelings into everything they do, making them intense lovers, but not externally affectionate partners. Their willpower can have an effect on their work as well, whether through personal relationships with co-workers or with the work itself. A Rabbit is known to engross himself in his projects, both business and personal.
THE WATER RABBIT 1903 AND 1963
Fragile and obedient, Water Rabbits will go with the flow to prevent conflict or arguments. These circumstances upset and bother them because they are very sensitive individuals. They are normally friendly and calm, although at times they get reserved and lost in thought. They are helpful with family, friends and business partners and display an empathy that makes persons gravitate to them for guidance and reassurance. They can easily be taken advantage of because they are so kind with themselves and their feelings, so they have to be cautious and not let their guard down too fast.
THE WOOD RABBIT 1915 AND 1975
Wood Rabbits tend to be the least timid of all the Rabbits. This may be because they always want to be the mediator and do not want to hurt other people’s feelings. Wood Rabbits are extremely generous and like to avoid the limelight. These individuals are always kind enough to assist you in moving into a new house, make you a cup of tea or listen to you while you speak about your latest character flaw. The Wood Rabbit m sometimes is too kind for his own good, causing him to be taken advantage of and sometimes used by others unsuspectingly. Wood Rabbits have to learn to say no and stand their ground or they will surely be an easy target.
THE FIRE RABBIT 1927 AND 1987
Fire contributes an uncanny magnetism and mystery to the Rabbit. These individuals have an extreme need to live life to its fullest. They are full of life and adventurous and enjoy anything that ignites their resourcefulness or curiosity. If provoked, they may throw a tantrum but most of the time they work really hard to prevent unpleasant altercations. Fire Rabbits are charismatic and tend to put their emotions aside; however they will speak up if it is necessary.
THE EARTH RABBIT 1939 AND 1999
The Earth element provides these Rabbits a sense of authenticity and realism that others do not demonstrate so openly. They are able to give good advice, which in return earns them respect and trust from those who seek their guidance. They take a lot of pride in their homes and work meticulously to create an atmosphere of security for their friends and family. Earth Rabbits also put a great amount of value on material comforts and loves to make money.
People born in the Year of the Rabbit are expressive, gifted, and determined. They are honorable, reserved, and have exceptional taste. The Rat, Dragon, Monkey, Ox, Snake and Rabbit will make good secondary matches for him/her. But he/she will not be able to endure the arrogance or criticism of the Rooster. The Rabbit is not impressed by the hysterics of the Tiger and will not appreciate the hot tempered and fickle ways of the Horse. They are most suited with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog. Rabbits believe in their ability to survive, rely on their own judgment and are at peace with them selves.
